Task Batching refers to batching similar tasks together. Some of you may already be task batching subconsciously, but being intentional with it will help you to increase your efficiency even more.
Maintaining an accessible and editable to-do list will help you call out and identify like-tasks that can be batched together. Having an easily editable to-do list will help you with your task batching. As you write out your list, you can move around the tasks to “group” similar tasks. For example, cleaning the kitchen sink, restocking the flour and sugar containers and taking out the trash are tasks that can be batched together as part of “cleaning the kitchen”.
Further examples of task batching would be batching errands together and batching cleaning tasks together. If your list includes thinks like a grocery run, vacuuming the bedrooms, cleaning the toilets, going to the post office for stamps and taking out the trash, you may batch similar tasks together to cut down on transition time. Doing tasks in the order listed above would be inefficient. You’ll end up spending extra time driving around, and you’ll waste time taking out and putting away cleaning supplies more than once. Instead, you can batch the cleaning tasks together and batch the errands together.
