What is a Template To-Do List?

To-do lists can be overwhelming and you may not know where to start... Starting with a template can help you focus in on your priorities and help you stay consistent.

What is a Template To-Do List?

A template to-do list is simply a list of weekly action items. Things you consistently do every week, broken down day for day. It allows you to have a to-do list starting off point each week. I like to filter my tasks into days so every week I vacuum on Mondays and Thursdays (for example). My template to-do list reflects this reoccuring activity.

This does not mean those reoccuring tasks are your only tasks. You can (and should) add to your to-do list as items come up in your daily life. You simply start the week with your template and then add to it as needed.

I keep my template to-do list on a separate note in my Apple Notes App. At the beginning of the week, I copy the template over and I add in tasks as needed. This ensures I stay consistent with my daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks and saves me time typing out all the same tasks each week.

What Should I Include on my Template To-Do List?

The most common template to-do's will be cleaning/housekeeping, self-care, family responsibilities and reoccuring work tasks.

Some examples by group may be:

  • Cleaning/Housekeeping

    • Vacuum

    • Deep Clean the Kitchen

  • Self-Care

    • Journal

    • Meditate

    • Workout

  • Family Responsibilities

    • Pick John up from School

    • Wash soccer gear

  • Reoccuring Work Tasks

    • Answer Emails

    • Do the Weekly Status Report
