The "Get a Bigger Plate" Concept

Years ago, I was talking to my life coach about how frustrated I was that I didn't seem to have enough time. There was simply "too much on my plate". Her response was simple and at the time, frustrating. She said, "get a bigger plate".
Getting a bigger plate sounded ridiculous when I first heard it and I couldn't imagine a world where that was possible. Time was finite. I couldn't simply "get a bigger plate"... Over time I began to realize she didn't mean it quite so literally and it was actually good advince. Let me explain.

What is the "Get a Bigger Plate" Concept?
It is a time management concept. When you feel as though you have too much on your plate, instead of taking things off your plate, you get a bigger plate. Imagine you're pouring water into a glass and the water starts overflowing. You grab a bigger glass. You still may want all that water so instead of depriving yourself of the water, you get a bigger glass.
But HOW do I make more time?
It's not so much about making more time but instead being more efficient and strategic with the time you do have. Focus on finding ways to find unused or underutilized time in your day. Avoid "waiting" time and use that time to read or listen to a podcast. Need to focus more on skincare? Do your face mask WHILE you're making breakfast.
These are just some ideas. The point is, you can get a bigger plate by finding ways to use the time you do have more effectively. Check out some of my other blogs for some ideas and tips to create efficiency and maximize your schedule.
